THERMODYNAMIC STEAM TRAPS
This trap is composed of :
• A Disc
• A Pressure Chamber
• A Seat.
Operation :
This type of steam trap is essentially a time cycle device which responds to imbalances of pressure applied to a valving device, usually a disc. Pressure caused by condensate lifts the disc, permitting flow through the trap. When steam arrives, blow by creates low pressure under the disc, and flashing condensate forces the disc closed.
Advantages:
– Compact Design – Inexpensive.
– Broad range of use.
– Eliminate dirt buildup and provides tight shutoff.
Disadvantages:
– Steam loss due to wear on the parts.
– On/Off status, offers little precision in operation.
